Chlorine Dioxide Generator - SafeOx 114

The SafeOx 114 chlorine dioxide generator comprises a simple panel-mounted, two-part generating system that uses sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid in the presence of a unique catalyst to generate significantly greater levels of ClO2 than traditional production methods. Each SafeOx generating system is built to the highest manufacturing standards, and is designed for continuous operation in sterilisation units, cooling towers and other industrial and commercial applications.

Chlorine Dioxide Per Day

The SafeOx 114 system will generate up to 0.114 Kg (0.25 pounds) of chlorine dioxide per day.

Catalyst Column

This generator system operates in conjunction with the SafeOx RC 114 catalyst column.

Precursor Specifications

    • SafeOx approved technical grade sodium chlorite solution, 5 or 25 wt %.
    • SafeOx approved technical grade or better hydrochloric or sulphuric acid.
    • SafeOx catalytic reactor column.

Important Notice: The use of precursors other than those specified by SafeOx and operating outside the recommended parameters invalidates any warranty given with this equipment.

Feed Water

The feed water must be potable or equivalent. It cannot be chemically treated process or cooling water. Additives or contaminants not approved at potable levels will affect the performance of the system and purity of the chlorine dioxide product. Performance, efficiency and lifespan are partly determined by the physical and chemical characteristics of the water. SafeOx assumes that the following specifications have been met.

Temperature - The allowable feed water temperature range is 5 to 46ºC. If the feed water temperature is not within specification, a simple heat exchanger (coiled copper tubing, heat tape, etc.) may be useful.

Pressure - The system operates with feed water pressures between 2.04 bar and 6.9 bar. A pressure-reducing valve on the system may be used to lower incoming pressure. Avoid feeding the system from make-up lines with frequent pressure drops and fluctuations.

Product Delivery - The SafeOx system will inject CIO2 into pressurised lines up to 1.4 bar maximum with no additional hardware. For dosing into lines above 1.4 bar, a SafeOx Dosing Package is required. SafeOx offer dosing packages in the following sizes:19 litres, 114 litres, and up to 3,785 litres. For certain applications SafeOx offer the option of a water-driven pump.

Environmental Conditions - Avoid locations where the systems will be subjected to extreme cold or heat, i.e., below 5 °C or above 46°C, direct sunlight, vibration, vapours, liquid spills or EMI (electromagnetic interference i.e. strong radio transmission and electric motors). The systems could be damaged which will invalidate the warranty.

Electrical - The systems must be wired in accordance with all applicable electrical codes. The SafeOx units are fuse protected (replaceable plug-in 5 amp fuse on the relay board) and single voltage 115 VAC, 6 Amperes, 50 Hz or 230 VAC, 3 Amperes, 50 Hz. Use of a surge protector is recommended.

Physical Specifications of SafeOx Generators

    • Dimensions - 89 cm X 60 cm X 20 cm (35 inch X 24 inch X 8 inch).
    • Weight (operational) - 27 kg (60 pounds).
    • Pumps (2) - Peristaltic pumps with compatible tubing.
    • Reactor - A specially designed reactor allows for optimum reaction efficiency.
    • Solenoid Valve - Direct actiing, normally closed, 2-way solenoid valve protects the system during non-service operation.
    • Flow Switch - This switch shuts down the two pumps if an incoming water flow loss is detected.
    • Flow Controller - This device maintains a constant flow rate from 2.04 to 6.9 bar.
    • Remote On/Off - Dry contact, 200 Watt rated contact.
    • ClO2 Flow Rate - Approximately 160 ml/min.

*The concentrations indicated were obtained under ideal test conditions. This is based on multiple data points from non-consecutive days with all variables and parameters under scrupulous control.

Important Notice: It is the responsibility of the SafeOx operator to properly apply the chlorine dioxide and to understand the relevant local and international regulations concerning the use of chlorine dioxide.

Important Notice: All performance claims made by SafeOx assume that the above specifications have been met. Use of precursors other than those specified by SafeOx and operating outside the recommended parameters invalidates the warranty of this equipment.
